Permanent Make-up

Hi! I'm Dr. John Farella; a board certified plastic surgeon. The decision to try Permanent Make-up is an exciting one. It is my belief, that an educated patient allows you to determine your personal goals, and enables you to make an informed decision. I have developed this website as a patient information source. Hopefully, this site will prepare you for your consultation.

Permanent Make-up Permanent make-up is a form of tattooing that is used to recreate the eyebrow after aging-related lightening and hair loss, enhance the upper and lower eyelids, and enhance and augment the lips. The procedure utilizes either a tattoo machine that injects dye into deeper skin layers or the soft tap method that is done by hand. When applied properly, permanent make-up improves the appearance of facial features. The procedure also can recreate the pigmented areola of the breast after breast surgery and can be used to camouflage preexisting scars.

Dr. Farella has teamed up with a highly skilled specialist to ensure that this permanent procedure yields the best results. Complications are rare and include the need for touching up areas that oxidize and change color. Because permanent make-up is long-lasting, Dr. Farella recommends a conservative approach that can be augmented with regular make-up. Patient must be aware that pigments may change color over time and repeat tattooing may be done as needed to retain the appearance of the tattooed area.
