Red Light and Blue Light Therapy

Most of us find a blemish on our skin from time to time. Some people suffer with more frequent occurrences of blemishes or pimples. Even with a regular routine for cleaning your skin, bacteria can hide in hair follicles and pores of the skin, causing unsightly blemishes, or even acne.

After your personal skin analysis, we may recommend red light and blue light treatments (a feature of the HydraFacial equipment) to treat mild to moderate acne and related blemishes on your skin.

Red light and blue light therapy treatments are two different forms of skin therapy. These therapies are used to treat separate but related skin conditions.

  • Blue light penetrates the hair follicles and pores in the skin, killing the bacteria in hair follicles and pores.
  • Red light helps to stimulate collagen in the skin, and reducing inflammation.

This is why red light and blue light treatments are often both used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne and related blemishes on your skin.

Early blue light treatment procedures resulted in a sunburnt look of the patient’s skin, which lasted a week to 10 days. Thankfully, the procedures have been improved and few patients experience a slight reddening of the skin following their blue light treatment.

There is no downtime associated with red light and blue light therapy treatments.
