Breast Lift With Implants

As a woman’s breasts age, the shape of the breast becomes less pleasing. The resulting shape of the breast flattens due to volume loss; there is a change in the quality of the skin and tissue. In addition, the nipple-areola complex descends giving the breasts an unattractive shape with down-pointing nipples. When there is both volume loss and an abnormally shaped breast a breast lift with a breast implant may be recommended.

The Mastopexy Augmentation Procedure
Mastopexy augmentation is a combination of a breast lift and a breast implant; it is two operations in one. The combination procedure is more complicated than either the mastopexy or the breast augmentation alone. This operation can be performed in a one-stage or a two-stage procedure in Westchester. When performed as a one-stage procedure the implant and the lift are done on the same operative day. When performed as a two-stage procedure the lift is done first and at a later date the implants are placed, or the implants are placed first and the mastopexy is performed at a later date. Performing the breast lift with the implant at the same time is more challenging than the two-stage procedure. The mastopexy augmentation (breast lift with implants) leaves additional scars when compared to an augmentation alone.

At the time of your consultation, Dr. Farella will discuss the surgical plan and will outline for you which type of lift is needed to obtain the best cosmetic outcome.

Breast Implant Options
Silicone or saline implants can be used when performing mastopexy augmentation. Dr. Farella has a special volume sizing system that gives you an idea of which size breast would work best for your body. While different-sized implants may be used depending on the volume desired, Dr. Farella recommends using smaller implants so as to prevent unsightly scars as well as prolonged wound healing problems.

At the time of your consultation, Dr. Farella will discuss the various options available to achieve your desired aesthetic goals.
