  • Wrinkles
  • Sun damage

Description

Pixel skin rejuvenation gets its name from the pattern of very small dots in the treated skin area. The procedure uses fractional erbium laser resurfacing to improve skin tone and texture. If your skin shows common signs of aging like damage from the sun, wrinkles, and brown spots, Pixel can help restore treated areas, leaving them with a smoother texture, more even color, and glow of new skin. Pixel skin rejuvenation is gentle enough to be used on the neck, chest, hands, and other thin-skinned areas of the body. Pixel skin rejuvenation is fractionally ablative, meaning that it removes tiny areas of the skin surface while leaving surrounding skin untouched. The procedure targets the skin’s damaged surface while reaching the underlying layers of skin to stimulate production of skin-firming collagen. Skin recovers more quickly because each it treated section is surrounded by healthy tissue that promotes healing

About the Procedure (Board Certified)

In Pixel skin rejuvenation, laser beams are delivered through a screen with holes that are smaller than an average skin pore. The beams reach the skin in a grid pattern, affecting a percentage of the treated area at one time. The untreated skin that surrounds each treated spot stimulates healing and new skin growth. Pixel laser beams can be adjusted to penetrate more or less deeply into the skin.

Results

Skin tone and texture improve almost immediately and continue to improve as new skin appears over a period of several months. Because Pixel skin rejuvenation treats a small percentage of the skin surface, most men and women need two to four treatments for the best results. Treatments usually are spaced three to four weeks apart.

Anesthesia and Pain

Pixel skin rejuvenation is virtually pain-free. You may feel a mild tingling in the treated area immediately after treatment. Some people experience slight swelling for up to two days after treatment.

Recovery

Pixel skin rejuvenation causes little to no downtime; you can return to work or your daily routine almost immediately after treatment. For the first one or two days after treatment, skin will appear red, as if it were sunburned. Make-up can cover up the redness. Treated skin then flakes off and is replaced by new skin over the course of approximately one week. As with other types of skin resurfacing, Pixel treatment requires sun avoidance and use of sunblock after the skin has healed.

Risks and Complications

With any procedure, risks and complications can occur but generally are rare. Risks from Pixel skin rejuvenation are minimal, as long as the procedure is done by a trained professional. You will receive instructions on contacting our staff if you have concerns or questions after your treatment. As with other laser treatments, caution is necessary when Pixel is used in dark skin types.
